It was my first time in asia. Korea is a fascinating country, so far from what I know and expected.
As you can see in my pictures it's really a big mix between traditional temples and palaces, cuteness (customised cellphones seems like an art there. And it's kinda viral!),huge shopping malls, food markets, a lot of Kamsahamida (thank you), ubiquitous screens and of course noraebang ! (karaoke, think lost in translation, korean version).
I saw a lot of things in 10 days, I wish I could show everyting but it would take months and tons of posts! So I made a small list of my favorite places in Seoul:
- The Dongdaemun shopping complex: this is the first place I'd advice to a fashion student. It's the biggest textile market I've ever seen. You can probably find everything, if you know how to look.If you go, plan to stay the whole day!
( I wish I bought more fabric there! )
( I wish I bought more fabric there! )
-Uniqlo and A-land: Uniqlo because they have great basics. A-land is like the korean Urban outfitters, you can find the brand Low Classic and second hand stuff.
- Corso Como: So I failed to see it in Milan, luckily they have one in Seoul too! The bookshop is great if you look for internationnal art books.
-Kyobo Bookstore: a huge underground bookstore where you can find tons of korean books of course, but also magazines (kinda hard to find in the city), foreign books, japanese sewing / knitting books, stationary( I probably bought half of the stickers section!)...
-MMMG: a small concept store with a cafe (where I eat a delicious Bingsu).
- Hongdae : is the student area. So it's plenty of bars and restaurants ( try beer and fried chicken!) and also a lot of tiny clothes stores. It's probably the best place to go If you want to meet the young korean population.
-The Seoul Forest: a HUGE park with statues and games and even deers. Beautiful.
